Many people get tattoos to remind themselves of lessons they want to live by and Holly is no different. After reading the poem “Psalm of Life,” Holly realized she was living her life according to other people's agenda and needed to make a change.
“In the worlds broad field of battle, in the bivouac of life, be not dumb driven cattle, be a hero in strife.”
This stanza particularly stood out and prompted her to get the word Heroine tattooed on her shoulder. It serves as a daily reminder that she can be the hero she needs every day. It reminds her that she can control her destiny and doesn't need others to tell her how to live. “There aren’t enough female heroes that are acknowledged,” Holly said. “I was the antagonist to my story for so long, I decided to become the protagonist when I read that poem.”
