Look for More than Just SPF In Your Tattoo Sunblock!

SPF Facts
When it comes to sun protection, the SPF rating of a product is only half the story. At Save Your Tattoo, we want you to know the whole story so you get the best protection for your tattoo ink.

About Sun Protection Factor (SPF)
SPF is a laboratory measure of how effectively a sunscreen protects against UVB - the ultraviolet rays that cause sunburn. While ordinary sunscreens protect against UVB, they generally don't block UVA
rays - the type linked to skin cancer and wrinkles.

Save Your Tattoo Blocks UVB and UVA Damage!
Save Your Tattoo is more than a sunscreen - it's a sunblock. Sunblocks physically block the sun's UV rays - both UVA and UVB. Examples of sunblocks are clothing, umbrellas and trees. The best-known lotion sunblock is zinc oxide - and Save Your Tattoo contains a powerful 12% concentration.

SPF Can Be Misleading
Although the FDA has set rigorous standards to determine a product's SPF level, the number on a bottle rarely matches real-world effectiveness. Here's why:

• The SPF number does not indicate the quality or amount of sun protection. It measures the length of time a person using sunscreen can be exposed to sunlight before burning compared to when not using sunscreen. The SPF number does NOT determine how much UVB light will penetrate to the skin!

• Different skin types burn at different rates.

• Labs apply a whole lot more of a product on their subjects during testing than an average person ever would.

• Sweating, clothing rubbing against the skin, and water sports will all wear the sunscreen off.

• UVA rays are not included in SPF lab testing.

What's Our SPF?
Our philosophy at Save Your Tattoo is to provide broad-spectrum coverage from the effects of the sun. Our formula ensures tattoo ink is protected and the rate of fading is minimized. In addition, our potent antioxidant blend protects, soothes and hydrates the skin.

Even though we know that SPF indicates protection against UVB rays only and not UVA, we know that the desire to know the rating number isn't going to change overnight. When reviewing other products comparable only to the UVB sunblocking power of Save Your Tattoo, the listed SPF was 30.
